Over the last few years, I have built a few modular synthesisers, and locked in on Serge as my preferred format. From conversations with The Bad Producer, came up with the concept of a 'Banana Forest' - a compact self contained Serge synthesiser, with most of the controls at the bottom and the patch points at the top (the cables used in this type of synthesiser are sometimes called banana cables).

Musabajoo is housed in a 12" Hammond box, which also contains the power supply. A sidecar was added, with a Monsoon for texture and an Ornament & Crime as a control voltage (CV) multitool.

When I posted a picture on the Lines forum of the finished synths, some people asked for sounds. I thought how differently different people react and use the same tools, and it might be a great way of finding out the range of this small synthesiser. In addition, there can be magic moments before one develops an understanding with a new instrument.

So, Musabajoo went on tour. I asked some friends to take Musabajoo for a few weeks each, and to record with it, with the only restriction being that all sounds should be made with the Musabajoo + SideCar, with one external thing added (whether it be an FX box or a guitar or something else). Each track here is dominated by these little boxes.
